MOVIE STILL SHOTS
The following images are still shots taken from Dancy Home Movies, which my cousin sent to me on a CD. My computer does not allow movie still shots to be saved as screen shots. So to capture the images, I stopped the movie as it ran on my computer, took a photo of the stopped movie with my iPhone, and uploaded the photo to this webpage.
Below: Based on the images and estimated age of Marv's nephew, Daryl, Marv was 20 years of age.

The movie was taken at the Corgiat home, 19775 Washteaw St., Detroit, where Marv lived with his parents, Pete and Dora, and his younger sister, Lilyanlea. Household members are based on the 1940 census when the family lived at a difference location (Lycaste St) and the household residents were Pete, Dora, Marvin, and Lilyanlea Corgiat.

Living next door to the Corgiat house on Washtenaw St. were Ray and Leola Dancy and their son, Daryll. Many of the movie segments show John and Elizabeth Early (Marv's grandparents). Since the 1940 Census has Marv's grandparents living with the Dancys on Conner Street, John and Elizabeth likely lived with the Dancy's in their next home on Washtenaw Street.
Marv is pretending to smack down the other man.
Marv threw a snowball at the other guy...
...then Marv ran back inside.
She would have been around 16.
Marv appeared to be singing in the movie. His friend's name is unknown.
I still have this accordian.
Below: This part of the Dancy home movies was taken after Marv was entered the active service and before he went overseas. Therefore it would have been sometime between August 1942 and August 1943, whe Marv was 20-21 years of age.
Below: Because it Marv is wearing his Combat Infantry Badge, these photos would have been taken after Marv returned from over seas. The movie was likely taken during the time that Marv was stationed at Camp Atterbury but before he was married (between November 1944 - June 1945). The setting is at the Corgiat home, 19775 Washteaw St., Detroit.
Note the shoulder sleeve insignia (SSI) on Marv's left shoulder. After searching through all of the WWII SSI patches, the one I found that matches closest to the one on Marv's sleeve is the Fifth Service Command SSI patch. Given Marv's military occupational specialty while at Camp Atterbury and given the post was located in Indiana, it makes sense that Marv was assigned to the Fifth Service Command.

Background: In 1942, the geographical corps areas were redesigned as numbered service commands under Services of Supply (there were a total of nince servics commands, all within the continental U.S.). In 1943, Services of Supply was renamed Army Service Forces because the term "supply" did not accurately describe its broad range of activities; By this time, the corps area boundaries and departments experienced some minor readjustments. The 5th Corps Area, now called the Fifth Service Command, included Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and West Virginia.
I'm still trying to figure out what the sleeve insignia stands for. Could it be the 5th Coprs Area Service Command? See next image.
(Insignia found online.) In 1942, after the start of WW II, the geographical corps areas were redesigned as numbered service commands under Service Supply and renamed in 1943 as Army Service Forces to carry out logistical functions within the continental U.S. By this time, the corps area boundaries and departments were readjusted. The 5th Corps Area now included Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and West Virginia.
Note the shiny object which appears to be on his left hand. While it could be a ring, I don't think that he ever wore a wedding ring. Also, I don't think he was married at this point because Irma is not in the movie. I think it's part of a hand splint, though it's hard to see any type of splint in the image.
In this photo, the shiny object appears to be on both with ring and pinkie fingers.
